Most messengers treat music as an afterthought -- a link you paste, a preview that barely works. Backspace.me built DJ Rooms from the ground up. Any user can step up as the DJ, mix tracks live on a dual-deck engine, and broadcast to everyone in the room in real time. No bots. No automated playlists. A real person mixing live.
Anyone Can Be the DJ
DJ Rooms let any user take the decks in a chat room. When you become the DJ, you get a full mixing interface -- dual decks, crossfader, 3-band EQ, and a library of effects. Everyone else in the room hears your mix in real time as you play it.
This is not a playlist bot or an automated radio stream. The DJ is a real person making real decisions about what plays next, how tracks blend together, and when to drop effects. The audience is live, and so is the performance.
Dual-Deck Mixing Engine
The mixing interface gives DJs everything they need to run a proper set.

Live Mic Broadcasting
DJs can talk over their mix with push-to-talk mic broadcasting. Introduce tracks, hype the crowd, take requests from the chat -- all while the music keeps going. Listeners hear both the music and the DJ's voice blended together in real time.
Real-Time Listening
Everyone in the room hears the DJ's broadcast live. There is no delay, no buffering playlist -- the audience hears exactly what the DJ is playing as it happens. When the DJ crossfades, drops an effect, or cuts to a new track, listeners experience it in the moment.
▶ Listener Experience
- Live audio stream from the DJ's mix
- Now-playing display with track info
- Mini player that persists as you navigate rooms and DMs
- Chat alongside the music without interrupting the stream
Queue & Track Management
DJs manage their upcoming tracks through a queue system. Search for songs, line them up, reorder on the fly, and keep the set flowing. Hot cues let you mark key points in a track for instant jumps during performance.
